The House of Representatives voted for Resolution 713, which deplores the International Court of Justice advisory opinion finding that the Apartheid Wall Israel is building in the West Bank is illegal. There were 361 yeas, 45 nays, 13 presents, and 14 not voting. Although the resolution passed, a significant number of Members of Congress REFUSED to condemn the International Court of Justice for upholding the standards of human rights and international law in regards to the Wall. For Immediate Release 21 July 2004 Following the passage of House of Representatives' Resolution 713, the Senate is now considering its own Resolution 408 which condemns the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its advisory opinion ruling that Israel's Apartheid Wall is illegal. Passage of such a resolution by the Senate would add to the US's complicity in Israel's defiance of International Law and world opinion. Just yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly by 150 to 6 with 10 abstentions to demand that Israel comply with the ICJ opinion to dismantle the illegal wall it is building in the West Bank.
