Oxfam Solidarity (in Belgium) called for a boycott of Israeli goods,
and now claims it was referring only to goods from the so-called "occupied
territories." There is strong evidence, however, that the boycott was directed
at all Israeli goods. In either event, by making itself a party to the geopolitical
conflict in the Middle East, Oxfam Solidarity cannot claim to be a peacemaking
honest broker. Furthermore, Oxfam Wereldwinkels (world workshops) in Belgium
associated themselves with an anti-American boycott because of disagreement
with Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Anyone who dislikes terrorists and dictators (e.g. Saddam, Uday,
and Qusay Hussein) should boycott Oxfam Solidarity and the three Wereldwinkels
in question. Oxfam International is not, however, connected with Oxfam Belgium's
behavior and should not be held accountable for it.
Oxfam International repudiates and denounces Oxfam Solidarity's behavior
(29 July 2003).

"...the leadership of the Oxfam International felt that the core messages
of the Belgian campaign were unclear and inappropriate. Oxfam International
regrets our association with these messages and images and sincerely apologizes
for any offense caused. We would like to underline that this was not an Oxfam
International campaign or position. To be explicit, Oxfam International does
not support a public campaign for a boycott of Israeli produce."
